Patient Education

New ways for patients and their families to live active and healthy

Patients and their families need information, knowledge and skills to deal with the challenges their illness at home, at work, or in healthcare institutions. At Careum, “patient education” means promoting knowledge of chronic illness as well as patient skills and self-management. We support to enhance patient education in Switzerland; our activities emphasise the new role of patients and strengthen their position in healthcare.

We offer

  • Expertise in patient education and self-management support through an interdisciplinary team.
  • Evidence-based courses such as the Chronic Disease Self-Management Programme (CDSMP) - named Evivo.
  • Collaboration and partnerships with established healthcare institutions and professionals.
  • A platform for networking with institutions such as the World Health Organisation Regional Office for Europe (WHO), Stanford Patient Education Centre (USA) and Allianz Gesundheitskompetenz (Switzerland).
  • Information und tools which are simple, structured, understandable, and pracitial in everyday life.
  • Print and online media that complement the course content and address current changes to the role of patients in healthcare.
  • Pioneering events with a focus on patient education and self-management in chronic illness.
